WWD: Hello ALAY, how is everything in your world right now, both professionally and personally?
Hello! Professionally, I’m excited about the release of my new track “Sereia”. Personally, things are going well too – finding inspiration in both my music and the world around me.
WWD: You have a new single ‘Sereia’ just out on P!no Music. What was your inspiration behind this track?
The inspiration behind my new track “Sereia” comes from two profound sources. Firstly, being born in a coastal town, I’ve always had a strong bond with the sea and its majestic elements. The ocean’s beauty and vastness have always fascinated me, and that connection with the sea serves as the heart of the song.
Secondly, my Brazilian heritage played a significant role in the creative process. Choosing to incorporate Portuguese in the track was a way to embrace my roots and add an extra layer of authenticity to the music. It’s a homage to my cultural background and a celebration of my diverse influences.
With “Sereia,” I aimed to bring this magical connection to life through music. I want listeners to feel the enchanting vibes and embark on a journey, immersing themselves in the emotions and beauty that inspired this track. I hope it resonates deeply with those who listen and takes them on their own personal voyage of discovery and wonder.
WWD: You collaborated with Ambient Pino, how did the collab come about?
The collaboration with Ambient Pino for our track “Sereia” came about in a serendipitous way. Our paths crossed when I had the opportunity to perform at his club in Zurich. We instantly connected over our shared passion for music and our creative energies seemed to resonate well. As we continued to stay in touch after the event, our friendship naturally evolved into a musical partnership.
WWD: Growing up, what were some of your musical influences that you think have shaped your taste in music?
My musical journey has been influenced by a wide array of genres and cultural encounters, all of which have shaped my musical preferences. My Brazilian heritage gifted me with the rhythmic allure of bossa nova. The world of classical music, nurtured through ballet and piano training, fostered a profound appreciation for intricate compositions and emotive musical storytelling.
WWD: Growing up and residing in Milan until 2010, I witnessed the emergence of the deep house. Subsequent travels and residences across the globe exposed me to different sounds, musical tastes, enriching my artistic evolution.
These diverse experiences allowed me to absorb a multitude of sonic landscapes, fostering my growth as an artist. The result of this journey is “Sereia,” a track that encapsulates the convergence of these varied influences.
WWD: What are some studio essentials that make up your trademark sound?
My studio setup is a combination of digital and analog tools that contribute to shaping my signature sound. While these tools are influential, they are not the sole determinants of my sound. The essence of my sound is rooted in my artistic vision, emotions, and the concepts I bring to life through my music. The gear serves as a medium for self-expression, but it’s truly the passion and dedication behind the process that define my sonic identity.
WWD: Where can people expect to see you perform live for the rest of this summer?
For the remainder of this summer, my focus will be on performances in Switzerland, bringing my music to local audiences here. As the season transitions, I’m excited to share that I’ll be expanding my live performances across various international destinations, embracing the opportunity to connect with diverse audiences and share my musical journey.
WWD: What else are you working on that you can share?
I’ve got some exciting projects in the works! I’m currently working on a new EP. It’s been a creatively fulfilling journey, and I can’t wait to share it. Additionally, I’m collaborating with a few talented artists, which has been a fantastic experience, bringing fresh perspectives to my music.
Overall, there’s a lot in store, and I’m thrilled about the upcoming releases and ventures. Stay tuned, and I promise to keep you all updated on the latest developments!
