The much loved Fervormore is set for a very special one this Saturday night in the city of London as they take the reins at the award winning venue that is Dalston Roof Park. In line with what is an illustrious list of former guests, the on point crew have enlisted the formidable talents of Italian selector Yaya to curate the afternoon’s festivities. Recognised as one of the finest underground heroes, his talents as both a producer and DJ have seen him grace the likes of Desolat and Cadenza in recent years, making his appearance in London this weekend a very appetising one for the capital’s discerning music lovers. We caught up with the Torino man for a quick one on one ahead of his intimate show this Saturday….
You have featured heavily in the London Underground scene over the last couple of years from playing Loco Dice’s massive Used & Abused arena at We Are Fstvl to some of London’s best known venues like Fabric & Village Underground. How do you feel about playing to an intimate Rooftop venue on this occasion? And would you approach the show / your set any differently because of that?
I’ve always been a great lover of intimate venues since I started playing as a dj. These are the only parties where you can get a real feeling with the crowd. I also love to play in the daytime and after party. I’m pretty sure that we will have a great time together.
What can we expect to hear from your own productions in the upcoming months?
I have a lot of releases at the moment and lot’s more to come including my latest EP on my own Tamango called “Unconditional Love (incl. Cassy Remix) and my collaboration with my fellow Lorenzo Chiabotti “The Fraud” which includes a remix from Robert Dietz (out on Monologue). In the future you will also hear my remix for Sece on Vatos Locos and another remix for Javier Carballo on Monoclap. I’ve also just received the masters of the forthcoming release on Tamango from Myself feat. Eka Moon called “Closer” with Mike Shannon on the remix and you’ll have the chance to hear this Saturday.
Off the back of your success of releasing on other labels you have recently launched your own new record label ‘Tamango’. Can you give us more insight into why you choose the name ‘Tamango’ for the label and who is featuring artist wise on your upcoming release schedule for 2017?
Tamango is the name of the first black slave who fought for his freedom but it’s also the name of the famous cocktail created 38 years ago by my family in their pub right in the center of Turin. It’s a super strong cocktail (I think you never drunk something like that before) which contains a mysterious ingredient in it, so you definitely should try it. In the next Tamango releases you’ll hear music from the likes of: Mike Shannon, Rich NXT, Alex Ground, Ben Rau, Jamahr, Diego Krause and many more…
I’m very focused on my own new label Tamango Records at the moment. I already settled all the releases until mid of 2018. Being a label owner gave me a lot of new stimulus to go forward on my career and reaching more goals.
When you signed your first ever record, did you ever think you’d be where you are today with releasing on some of the most respected labels in the scene like Desolat, Suruba, Cadenza lab, Souvenir, Get Physical?
If I have to be honest… yes I did, because to be a dj is my desire since i was young and i was pretty sure that if I would have continued to try I would have succeed my goals and my dreams, otherwise I didn’t feel achieve with myself.
When on the road, what do you always carry with yourself? Or what can’t you do without? (An item)
My favourite loop machine: the Soundbite.
Loco Dice launched his new event concept at Sonar, Barcelona last week ‘Seran Bendicidos’ that you featured on, what was the lunch party like?
The party was just great, it was a lovely occasion to reunite the Desolat family all together and we had definitely a great night. I’m sure we will have more in the future.
Ok so Sonar is done and dusted.. Any plans for Ibiza or any other sun soaked destinations in general this summer?
Next Monday I will fly to Ibiza for another season and i’m excited as the first time. This year I will playing at the famous HYTE at Amnesia + , tINI & The Gang, Sankeys for Capadi and a lot more parties in Villa.
